NEBBI. Nebbi District chairman, William Ezrom Alenyo has died, his family has confirmed.
Alenyo died at Mulago National Referral Hospital after he was referred from Nebbi hospital following a car accident last week.
He was involved in a motor accident as he travelled to Pokwero village in Pakwach District.

Family members at the time said he was in a stable condition and responding to medication well.
Without giving details, the deceased’s son, Mr Marshall Alenyo, said on Tuesday that his dad died Monday night.
In his brief message, Mr Marshall said: “My brothers and sisters, my father, Mzee Alenyo O.O has died. May you have us in your prayers.”

Several people are already paying their tributes to one of the men regarded as pillars of development in Nebbi, Zombo and Pakwach districts.
The Former Nebbi District Woman MP who also served during Alenyo’s time, Ms Catherine Akumu Mavenjina, said: “It is very sad news to our beloved Mzee Alenyo OO. He dedicated his services to Nebbi District and the whole nation. May God comfort Mamma Anna and the bereaved family.”
The late Alenyo was first voted as LCV chairman in a by-election in 1998. During his tenure that stretched up to 2006, he was instrumental in ensuring that government constructs several bridges, schools and health centers across the vast Nebbi district before Zombo and Pakwach were carved out.

Alenyo was an Australian trained journalist who worked with the then Radio Uganda, now UBC; mainly reading news in Alur language.
He bounced back in 2011 but did not make it in elections. He again tried his luck in the political arena in the 2016 general elections and emerged winner.
