Offices at the ministry of health in Wandegeya, Kampala have caught fire

in Wandegeya, Kampala on Sunday emerged from the kitchen, as earlier reported.
While addressing journalists at their offices on Friday, Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng said that, the possibility of a power short circuit has also been ruled out as all circuit breakers were found intact at the time the Police Fire Fighters put out the blaze.

“However, according to the Police, the fire might have started from the Quality Assurance Office. We continue to await a more comprehensive report from the multi-sectoral team of experts,” Dr Aceng told journalists.
Although the minister could not conclude that the fire could have been caused intentionally by the ministry staff, she revealed that the ministry is strengthening security within their premises and the surrounding area.

“As part of the renovation, we shall ensure proper, mandatory check in and out of all staff, revamping the biometric system and re-register all staff into the Ministry system,” she added.
A mysterious fire on Sunday afternoon gutted Wing B of the third floor of the ministry offices.
The affected five offices included that of the Commissioner Quality Assurance, Assistant Commissioner Quality Assurance, Secretary to Assistant Commissioner Child Health, Assistant Commissioner Reproductive Health and that of Senior Health Educator – Health Promotion and Education.
