Newly-erected Shs50 billion Entebbe road signs fading

Infrastructure. The sign posts, meant to ease addressing system, were put up in Entebbe suburbs like Lunyo East and Central but until now, the ICT ministry has not responded to the complaints.

A whopping Shs50 billion taxpayers’ money for the National Postcode and Addressing System pilot project, meant for easy location of people and institution localities, could have gone to waste as the installed road signs are beginning to fade, hardly three months after being commissioned.

The road signs installed in August this year have began fading, especially in places like Lunyo East and Central, rendering the project purpose useless.

Lunyo Village chairman Richard Ssalongo Ssekandi, attributed the problem to poor materials used to make the road signs.

Efforts to get a comment from the ICT ministry were fruitless as the minister, Dr Rukahana Rugunda, was not picking his phone, while his junior, Mr Nyombi Thembo’s phone was switched off.

Entebbe Mayor Vincent De-Paul Kayanja said they received the complaints and formally lodged them to the ministry for intervention.
