Nine remanded over Entebbe killings

ENTEBBE:
Nine suspects have appeared in Entebbe Chief Magistrate's court over charges of murder linked to the recent spate of killings in Katabi that have left the country in shock.
The suspects who included businessman, Ivan Katongole, who has been detained at Nalufenya detention centre for the last one week, on Friday appeared before the court presided over by Ms Mary Kaitesi.

Katongole, Hellen Nabaggala and Andrew Kizito were arraigned in court and charged with the murder of Rose Nakimuli, who was the sixth woman to be murdered in the recent spate of killings that have claimed the lives of nine women in Katabi town council alone.

Six other suspects Godfrey Mayanja, John Bwanika,Jonathan Kibirango, Richard Kasozi, Muhammad Sangayo and Yiga Balijerwa were produced before court and charged with the murder of Sarah Nakajjo, whose body was discovered on August 11 in Nkumba Bufulu.
Ms Kaitesi remanded the suspects to Kigo government prison until September 25 for further mention of their case. She further noted that the charges against them are capital offences which can only be heard the High court.
