Njuba, Semajege to lie in State

The bodies of Sam Njuba and Festo Higiro Semajege will lie in state tomorrow for the legislators and the public to pay their last respects to the two fallen senior citizens.

Both former legislators died of different illnesses last Friday. Njuba, 72 who is a former Kyadondo East MP and chairman of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change, succumbed to liver complications while Semajege , a former MP for Rwemiyaga County and deputy speaker for Buganda Lukiiko, died of cancer complications.

According to Ms Hellen Kaweesa, the Parliament public relations officer, Njuba’s body will be the first to arrive in the House and a special session will be held in his honour. Later Semajege body will follow.

Both Njuba and Semajege were members of the 1994 Constituent Assembly that enacted the 1995 constitution, MPs and surprisingly died on the same day.
