One dead, 3 injured in Mabira three-car crash

One person has been confirmed dead and three others critically injured in a motor accident in Mabira Forest, Najjembe in Buikwe District.
Sseziwa spokesperson, Ms Helen Butoto identified the deceased as John Kyaguma a turn boy in a Fuso vehicle which collided with two other vehicles.
Ms Butoto said on Tuesday that Micheal Odoi, Hajji Abudallah Nsamba and Alamazan Mwase all drivers in the three vehicles that were involved in the accident.

Police attributed the cause of the accident to a speeding numberless trailer that was travelling from Jinja to Kampala.
“It was trying to overtake a Tata-registration number UAA 758F- that was loaded with cement when it collided with a Fuso truck, registration number UAQ 591T, that was transporting maize from Kampala side to Jinja. The Trailer overturned several times,” Ms Butoto said.

Mr Musa Mutebbi, an eye witness also blamed the driver to trailer for reckless driving which resulted in the car crash that paralysed traffic for several hours.

The regional Traffic Officer, Mr Israel Wambesyo cautioned the drivers against reckless driving.
He said the accident had cut off that section of Jinja-Kampala road and advised motorists to use the alternative Kayunga route as they clear the wreckages.
