Buikwe: One person was on Thursday confirmed dead in an accident that occurred at Lwankima village in Mabira forest in Najjembe Division in Buikwe District after two trucks.

According to Sezibwa region police spokesperson, Mr Lameck Kigozi, the Fuso truck registration number UAM 958X was heading to Jinja when its driver, in a bid to avoid ramming into a tree that had fallen and covered half of the road swerved from his lane and hit an oncoming trailer registration number UAP 094S/ UAK 981G loaded with Sugar cane and heading to Lugazi Sugar factory.

Although the trailer driver reportedly tried as much as possible to give way to an oncoming Fuso truck, this was not enough to save its driver, Majidu Kiwanuka, a resident of Magamaga village in Jinja District who died in the accident.

‘’The Cubin of the Fuso was badly damaged, making it difficult for Kiwanuka to survive because it was his side that was hit,” said Mr Kigozi.
