One dead, two injured in Hoima machete attack

  • In a related development, Joseph Kakooza, 27, a resident of Tinkalu village, Kiterede parish, Kalangalo Sub County in Mityana District was on Thursday attacked and killed by unidentified assailants.

HOIMA: One person has died, while two others have been injured in a bar attack in Hoima town.

Deo Mugisha, 28, died while Ms Christine Asiimwe and Juliet Katusiime were rushed to hospital with deep cuts following an attack by machete wielding men.

The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Julius Hakiza said the attackers; armed with
machete descended on the victims at a bar in Kiganda village in Hoima Municipality at about
1am on Thursday.

“Mugisha died instantly while the other two victims were rushed to Hoima Referral Hospital with serious injuries,” Hakiza said before adding that the assailants also made away with unspecified amount of money.

“The general public should be calm and always give timely information to police and avoid working past midnight,” Hakiza said, adding “Police are investigating murder, attempted murder and robbery”

In a related development, Joseph Kakooza, 27, a resident of Tinkalu village, Kiterede parish, Kalangalo Sub County in Mityana District was on Thursday attacked and killed by unidentified assailants.
“They cut his throat open and left him dead,” the Wamala regional police spokesperson Mr Nobert Ochom said.
By press time, the body of the deceased was lying at Mityana hospital awaiting postmortem.
Ochom said a 25-year-old wife to the deceased has been arrested to help with investigations.
