KAPCHORWA- Suspected thugs on Sunday morning attacked Kapchorwa Central Police station, killing one police officer, injuring three others before making off with three guns.

Akim Kaddu, 30, a police constable attached to the police station who was on night duty was killed in the fire exchange with the unknown assailants at around 12:15am in what was said to be a systematically planned attack.
The Sebei sub region Police Spokesperson, Mr Michael Odongo confirmed the attack, refuting claims that they are connected to the recent presidential elections in which national Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Yoweri Museveni was declared winner.

“Yes, our officers who were on duty were attacked by armed thugs. They killed our officer during the exchange, injured others and also managed to make off with three guns and 90 rounds of ammunition. We have started investigating the cause of the attack but I am sure it is not connected to politics at all,” said Mr Odongo.

Mr. Odongo identified the injured police officers as Mr Jeremiya Musumba, Mr Stephen Lubega and Mr Junior Lukuddo attached to Kapchorwa Central police station.
He told Daily Monitor that the three [trio] have been rushed to Mbale regional hospital in a critical condition.
