FDC leader says the party is aiming at winning 70 per cent of elective political seats in the 2016 polls.

Tororo. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Rtd Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, has said the Opposition is growing stronger contrary to rumours that it is collapsing.
While campaigning for NRM candidate in the Busia LC5 by-election recently, President Museveni said the Opposition was becoming weaker. “President Museveni allegedly said the Opposition has weakened and that it has nothing to offer in regard to service delivery. This perception is wrong. The FDC and the entire Opposition are strong and will take power in 2016,” Mr Muntu told a gathering in Mella Sub-county, Tororo District at the weekend.
“He [Museveni] should not panic and keep shifting goal posts in the name of amending the Constitution to enable him keep himself in power. Let him allow the Constitution to play its role and see if he will not be defeated,” he added.
Maj Gen Muntu said FDC was rebranding itself to target 70 per cent of elective political seats countrywide in the 2016 elections.
He also said his countrywide tour is aimed at mobilising and rebranding the party, establish conducive structures by the time presidential elections are conducted.
The FDC president said the party constitution does not automatically qualify him to be a presidential flag bearer, adding that members have the mandate to choose.
