The State minister for Economic Monitoring, who is also Bugangaizi West MP, Mr Kasirivu Atwooki, has criticised parents for failing to provide lunch to their school going children as stipulated in the school feeding policy.
Addressing parents and teachers at Buruko Primary School in Nyalweyo Sub-county, Kakumiro District last Friday, Mr Atwooki said parents have abdicated their cardinal role of providing food for their children which has led to continued poor academic results in schools. The minister, who is also an Old Boy of the school, asked parents to provide their children with basic learning materials.

He further castigated parents for failing to discipline their children something, he said, has culminated into moral decay. Parents expressed concern over the scarcity of water at the school which shares the only borehole with the rest of the community.
Meanwhile, the Kamwenge District Woman MP, Ms Dorothy Kabaraitsya Nshaija, has urged parents to pack food for their school going children if they are to register better results.
Ms Nshaija was speaking last Friday during a visit and support supervision to the newly established Kasorora and Rwabishahi primary schools which were built early this year by Building Tomorrow Uganda, a non-government organisation.
