President Museveni has said because the NRM government has been in power for a long period and has done so many things, people are forgetting its earlier big achievements and concentrating on minor ones and accusing it of failure.

The President was speaking during a pass-out of cadres who have been undergoing political education in Kajara Constituency in Ntungamo District on Saturday.

Mr Museveni highlighted 15 major achievements of the NRM, including construction of roads and rehabilitation of major infrastructure, extension of electricity to rural districts, fighting for peace, regional unity and cooperation with neighbouring countries.

He also mentioned demystifying the military, universal primary and secondary education, rebuilding the health sector, among others, which he said, are not talked about.

“You are forgetting about what we began with, the big issues; you are currently obsessed with talking about the small pledges and forgetting that we have spent a number of years working for Uganda. All this talk you hear on radios and newspapers need correction, people need to be reminded,” the President said.

A total of 1,067 people from Ihunga, Bwongyera, Kibatsi and Nyabihoko sub-counties in Kajara County have been undergoing training for 12 days.
Clad in a military uniform, Mr Museveni, accompanied by First Lady Janet Museveni, arrived at the function at about 5:30pm aboard a military chopper.

“The other achievement people are forgetting is about the cell phones. When my helicopter is traversing these hills, its keen to avoid the telecom masts on almost every hill in the country, and you do not associate this with NRM?” He asked.

Mr Museveni said his government is irreplaceable and can only be looked at with envy by the opposition who destroy its image on radio stations.
“What has FDC done for Uganda? DP, UPC which we found like a rotten mushroom and has gone worse. There is no one who can discredit NRM,” Mr Museveni said.
