Kampala-  The police on Thursday arrested two brothers of Matthew Kanyamunyu, the principal suspect in the killing of Kenneth Akena at Lugogo in Kampala on the night of November 12.

Those arrested are Mr Joseph Kanyamunyu and Mr Moses Kanyamunyu. Daily Monitor has learnt that one of the brothers is being held at the Special Investigations Unit in Kireka and the other is jailed at Kira Road Police Station.

Police spokesperson Andrew Kaweesi confirmed the arrests but did not provide details why the two were picked up. A source familiar with the investigations said the duo was arrested to aid the police in the search for the killer weapon.

A postmortem conducted at Mulago Hospital showed that Akena, who was buried in Kitgum on Wednesday, died as a result of damage to a number of his internal organs inflicted by a bullet through the upper abdomen. A bullet was found lodged in his stomach.
