Mr Phillip Mukasa, the Police Spokesperson for Katonga Region told Daily Monitor that all accidents which happened in the last six months were due to indiscipline of motorists who failed to respect road marks and signs thus driving with recklessness.

According to Mr. Mukasa, most of the accidents happened at a section between Maya-Katende and Nabyewanga Trading Center near Lwera swamp at the border of Mpigi and Kalungu Districts, where records shows that 96 people have died and 245 others injured since this year began.

Butambala Member of Parliament, Mr Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi who was part of the group cautioned drivers to respect road signs and marks.
He also urged government to widen roads in the country saying most of them are too narrow to accommodate more than one vehicle at a time.
