Police arrest Luwandagga’s son over alleged murder

The police in Katwe are holding one of the sons of the late Andrew Patrick Luwandagga over the alleged murder of his father.

Luwandagga passed on this morning at his home in Namasuba, a Kampala suburb, of what the family says was heart failure.

However, according to news just coming in, 30-year-old Andrew William Luwandagga was picked by the community  and handed to the police on suspicion that he killed his father during a domestic brawl.

“One of his own children, called Andrew William, 30 years old, was arrested by the community and they handed him to the police saying that he could have had a hand in his father’s death and we could not handle that lightly,” Emilian Kayima, the police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan said.

He explained that they have taken statements from the four family members who were in the house at the time Luwandagga died.

“We have gone ahead to record statements from family members, the widow, Sarah, and the two children," noted Kayima.

He confirmed that William will remain in their custody until a postmortem is released.

“We have sent a postmortem request to Mulago hospital where the body is and the report will indicate the cause of death which will also study whether or not this young man had a hand in the death of his father,” Kayima said.
