Having a father at home may not be a comfortable feeling for everyone after all. This is after three girls in Lyantonde District reported their father to police for allegedly defiling them since 2010.

The 40-year-old traditional herbalist in Kinuuka Sub-county, who is alleged to have impregnating all his three daughters, was arrested at the weekend after a tip-off by his 16-year-old daughter.

The district OC CID, Mr Martin Lubega, said one of the daughters, who was allegedly impregnated in 2010 while in Primary Four, was forced to terminate the pregnancy by her father.

The girl, who dropped out of school, said the abuse started after their parents’ separation and since then, he had frequently been sexually abusing her and other siblings aged 16 and 18.

The girl said she was fed up with her father pestering her for sex yet she had developed fistula after getting complications during the abortion.

Taking advantage?
Her sisters, who pitched camp at Lyantonde Central Police Station to see that their father is punished, said he often abused them whenever they went to herd cattle in the bush.

They said they had been afraid of reporting the matter to police after he threatened to kill them if they dared tell anyone. The suspect, who also runs a drugs shop in the town, however, said his daughters were liars and only wanted to tarnish his image.

He added that the girls were holding a grudge against him for separating with their mother. Mr Lubega said investigations over the matter were ongoing and that the suspect was likely to be prosecuted and charged with incest and defilement.
