Jinja- Police in Jinja have discovered four skulls and several bones of human beings in a shrine.
A traditional healer who owns the shrine is suspected to have killed the human beings in ritual sacrifice.

Police recovered the items on Monday in an operation that was led by the Kiira Regional Police Commander, Mr Gerald Twishime.

“One of the family members of the witch doctor died in unknown circumstances. A goat and a chicken were slaughtered in the grave. It is interesting that three family members are practicing witchcraft to earn a living,” Mr Twishime said.

Mr Fred Byekwaso, the owner of the shrine escaped before police raided his home in Bukolobozo village, Butamaire Parish.

Mr Twishime said the suspect was found with UPDF and Uganda Prisons uniforms, six tortoises, several national identity cards and animal skins among other items in the shrine.

Police and residents landed on the skulls and an army uniform after digging the cemented floor of the shrine.

He said no arrests have been made adding that the reptiles would be handed over to the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
