Police in Luuka District are looking for a 37-year-old man who is accused of hacking his wife.

The suspect, a resident of Nakiswiga village in Nawampiti Sub-county, is said to have hacked Ms Zabinah Nangobi, 25, on Sunday evening, accusing her of infidelity.

The man, who has two wives, residing at different homesteads, is said to have returned to the home of Ms Nangobi, the younger wife, on the fateful day and attacked her as she was seated outside the house.

“I was at home breast feeding my child when he returned home armed with a panga. He asked me why I had been sleeping with other men, but before I could utter any word he started cutting me,” Ms Nangobi said from her hospital bed in Iganga hospital.
The victim sustained deep injuries on the head, back and hands.

The medical officer at Iganga hospital, Dr Isa Isabirye, said the injuries were severe and the woman is weak because of excessive bleeding.
“She sustained deep multiple injuries on the head, hands and back. Her fingers were also fractured, we have tried to stitch the wounds; but she is still bleeding,” he said.
By Monday evening the victim had been referred to Mulago hospital.
