Police name suspects in Case Hospital accountant’s murder

Police have named three guards as suspects in the case of kidnap and murder of the Case Hospital accountant, Francis Ekalungar.
The suspects have been identified as Hamza Mulema, 30, Oscar Ogweng Gonzaga, 24, both working as guards at Case Clinic and Vincent Chandia, 24, a guard attached to G4S, a private security firm.

Kampala Metropolitan acting police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said the suspects are being held at Central Police Station in Kampala.

According to Mr Oweyesigire, Mulema and Chandia’s movements were captured by CCTV cameras as the late drove out of the Hospital.

"One of them even followed the late's car as he drove out of parking lot into the road," Mr Oweyesigyire explained.
Police is yet to record statements from the hospital management as they were left to first bury Ekalungar.

Police has recovered pieces of firewood and a lead of a jerrycan that was reportedly used to ferry petrol to the crime scene.
Ekalungar was last seen driving out of his workplace on Buganda Road in Kampala to bank the hospital’s funds at around midday last Tuesday. However, his charred body was found the following day in Kajjansi on Entebbe Road.
Police say they are still investigating the case.
Ekalungar was buried on Sunday at his ancestral home in Busia.
