Police officer hacked, gun stolen in Luweero

  • This is not the first time a police officer is being attacked and his gun taken away.
    On April 1, 2015, a police officer attached to Kasana Police Post in Luweero Town was hacked to death by machete wielding men who raided the police post demanding for guns.

A Police officer attached to Ndejje Police post in Luweero District is nursing serious bodily injuries after unidentified men wielding machetes attacked him and took off with his gun near Ndejje Secondary School on Sunday night.
Savannah Region Police spokesperson Mr Lameck Kigozi on Monday identified the injured police officer as Festo Kibuuka who was reportedly attacked at around 8pm by three machete wielding men as he left Ndejje University main campus in Luweero District to get supper at Ndejje trading Centre.

“The motive of the attack is still unknown but our officer who was found in a pool of blood after sustaining serious injuries is now recovering at Bombo Military Hospital. The suspects robbed him of his gun with 26 rounds of ammunition,” Mr Kigozi told the Daily Monitor on Monday.
Kibuuka and another officer identified as David Mukasa had been deployed to provide security at Ndejje University on Sunday night.

Kibuuka reportedly left his colleague on guard duty at 8:00pm to get supper but was intercepted along the way by three unknown people, according to Savannah Region Police Commander Caesar Tusingwire.
This is not the first time a police officer is being attacked and his gun taken away.

Godfrey Bala was killed as he tried to fight off the attackers who also injured another female police officer at the station.
