SEMBABULE. Police leadership in Masaka sub-region will soon reshuffle officers who have overstayed in their areas of operation.
According to Mr Edson Gumisiriza, a commissioner of police and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) administrator, some police officers are too familiar with the people they serve, which is causing impunity.
Mr Gumisiriza made the remarks last week while addressing residents of Sembabule District who had gathered at Sembabule magistrates’ court to meet a team of judicial officials who were traversing the region to assess the performance of the courts of law.

He added that police officers who have overstayed in their areas of operation will soon be taken for refresher courses and later posted to different areas across the country.
At the same meeting, residents decried the dilapidated structures currently housing the courts of law in the district and appealed to the judicial team to consider building good structures.
Justice Henrietta Wolayo who led the team, assured the residents that plans are under way to construct new court premises.
