Kibuku.
Members of Parliament from Kibuku District have blasted Opposition leaders’ ideological assumptions that the ruling NRM party has weakened because of the current internal grumbling.
The MPs, Mr Saleh Kamba and Mr Sarah Wenene urged the NRM leaders and supporters to remain calm and continue supporting the party and its programmes.
“The party is instead growing stronger day by day and people shouldn’t worry but remain calm and support President Museveni and the party,” Mr Kamba said.
This comes after NRM leaders and supporters raised fears that the current bickering between the former prime minister, and NRM Secretary General, Mr Amama Mbabazi and the party chairman, President Museveni, is likely to weaken the party ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Marking independence celebrations at Kirika Primary School yesterday, Mr Kamba, said for the last 45 years, the two top senior cadres know each other better than us but with signs that Mr Museveni and Mr Mbabazi are in dialogue.
“Pertinent issues are being handled between the two and there is no need to over politicise that NRM today or tomorrow will collapse because of two individuals. NRM is strong and the Opposition should not use it a scapegoat to assume that NRM is collapsing,” Mr Kamba said.
This is the reason NRM MPs unanimously endorsed the Kyankwanzi resolution backing President Museveni as sole candidate for the party in the 2016 general elections.
