MBARARA- Mbarara Archdiocese bishop Paul Bakyenga has asked Catholic priests to respect the norms and values of the Catholic Church.

While ordaining 11 priests last Saturday at Mbarara Archdiocese, Bishop Bakyenga said some Catholic priests’ behaviour is deplorable yet they are spiritual fathers who should be guiding people.

“There is a certain priest I will not mention but the people he leads have lodged a complaint that his behaviour is unbecoming,’’ said Bishop Bakyenga.

Priests are trained in Catholic Church principles and values which they must respect since they have devoted their lives to serving God. Bishop Bakyenga urged the newly ordained priests to be exemplary so that they can inspire more children to join priesthood.

“Always be exemplary and remember your role as Catholic priests,” Bishop Bakyenga said.

Buhweju District Woman MP Oliver Koyekyenga, who was among several politicians at the function, urged the priests to promote government programmes.

“Help government fight poverty so that the country attains middle income status by 2020 as envisaged by President Museveni,” Ms Koyekyenga said.
