A teacher at Green View Nursery and Primary school Kyotera is detained for stealing a gun from Luti police post in Kasaali Sub County, Kyotera District.

Jimmy Nkuubi was arrested last Saturday following a police search in his single rental room at Ntovu village, Kasaali and managed to find an SMG56 riffle which got lost two months back from one of the officers.

Mr Musa Kayongo, the Kyotera District Police commander said they were forced to close Luti police station in the process of carrying out investigations, and extended their spy network on ground that got Nkuubi’s movements suspicious.

“We were forced to do a police search in his room after he failed to answer most of our questions and in the process we found the lost rifle wrapped in a dirty black charcoal bag hidden under the bed,” Mr Kayongo explained expressing his disappointment of finding it with only one bullet out of the 29 that got missing.

He added that police has been receiving several cases of armed robbery in the area and the most recent is of Betty Nazziwa a resident in the same area who survived death after she was attacked and shot losing one of her fingers in the scuffle.

After the discovery of the riffle, Nkuubi admitted to have used it in robbery in different areas of Kyotera, Rakai and the nearby districts.

However, Kayongo says Nkuubi must be working with a team which they are trying to investigate. A case of house breaking and gun theft together with armed robbery are registered against him.
