Prison officers moved in reshuffle

- Others affected in the reshuffle include Ms Solome Nambi from Prison Headquarters and Mr Peter Kaweesi from Kakuuto Prison who proceed to accumulated leave while Mr Christopher Gidudu from Jinja Main Prison is transferred to Mid-Western Region Prison Headquarters effective October 3 this year.
KAMPALA. A total of seven officials of the Uganda Prisons Service have been appointed to various positions in a reshuffle that moved 15 officers.
The Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija also transferred four and others were sent for leave.
The service orders released by Dr Byabashaija saw Senior Superintendent of Prison (SSP) Guster Kizza, the former Officer in Charge of Jinja Main Prison appointed Regional Prisons Commander, East Central Region. He takes over from SSP Joel Kiggundu who proceeds on accumulated leave.
“These Orders take immediate effect unless otherwise stated. The Director of Administration is to ensure compliance of these orders and facilitate the officers’ movement,” said Dr Byabashaija.
The force has appointed SSP Allan John Mushabe who has been on leave as District Prisons Commander in charge of Masaka while Superintendent of Prison (SP) Anthony Opio from on leave is appointed District Prisons Commander for Apac.
Others appointed are SP Regina Nassimbwa from leave appointed District Prisons Commander for Nakaseke, ASP Joseph Ocom from Upper Prison Luzira (Officer in Charge of Jinja Main Prison), while ASP Francis Lwanga from Jinja Main Prison is appointed Officer in Charge of Ntungamo Prison.
According to the reshuffle, former District Prisons Commander of Apac, SSP Geoffrey Ogwang proceeds for leave pending retirement while ASP Brian Eyagu from Jinja proceeds to accumulated leave.
