MASAKA.

Prison warders at Masaka main Prison are in trouble over the escape of Masaka attack prime suspects.

Police have since confirmed the arrest of one of the prison warders who was on duty as Musa Galiwango and Muhammad Kiddawalime suspiciously took off from court in movie-like scenario.

According to Mr Frank Baine the prisons spokesperson, the detained is known as corporal warder John Francis Nuwagaba , a prison officer from Ssaza prison who was seated near the suspects during a court session.

“He was seated near them while in court and when he moved from his place the two got a chance (to flee) and this leaves suspicion and we could not let it go without being checked to find out whether his action was not intended to aid the escape,” Mr Baine said.

Mr Baine noted the prisons service has handed him (the warder) over to police pending interrogation.

He further added that the other six personnel that were on duty at the time will also record statements with police on how the escape happened.

Mr Lameck Kigozi, the Greater Masaka Police Spokesperson noted that the warder is currently held at Masaka central police station.

“He is likely to be charged for negligence of duty, disobedience of lawful orders and aiding a suspect to escape,” Mr Kigozi said.

Meanwhile, there has not been any trace for the suspects who escaped but police is confident that they will be apprehended.
