Cases of mob justice in Kamuli District will now be treated as a serious security matter, the Resident District Commission, Mr Jackson Asiimwe, has warned.

The RDC’s comments comes in the wake of several incidences in the district, the latest being yesterday morning when a mob razed down the house of a suspected thief before setting another suspected on fire.

The mob then stormed Nawanyago Police Post where they demanded that the police hand over the suspected thief, who was being held. The standoff led to a shooting that left Isaaka Kabi, a suspected member of the mob, dead.

According to the police, the incident brought to 23 the number of mob justice cases registered in the district in the last 6 months, a situation that the RDC says is unacceptable.

He says it was causing insecurity and lawlessness among the people.
