Soroti municipal authorities have interred the remains of unidentified Kenyan businesswoman who was killed by unknown assailants on the eve of last year’s Christmas.

The woman was attacked on December 24 and died at Soroti regional referral hospital where she had been admitted with serious injuries.
She was buried in Soroti municipal cemetery after police failed to trace for her relatives.

The deceased is said to have been a dealer in fresh fruits, especially oranges which she would buy from farmers in Teso sub region.
Soroti municipality mayor, Paul Omer said their efforts to get details of her identity failed.

He added that upon her demise as result of injuries she sustained from her assailants who possibly wanted her money, the municipal authorities had no other choice but to bury her in the cemetery.

“Besides money, her attackers might have taken her identity cards which would have helped police locate relatives,” he said.
He added that a number of unclaimed bodies have been interred in the municipal the cemetery and this is costly to the municipal authorities.
