A Member of Parliament for Bukooli North in Bugiri District has survived lynching by angry residents, who blamed him for the poor road network in the area.

Nabukalu Sub-county residents on Monday attacked Mr Stephen Baka Mugabi as he attempted to address mourners at the burial of Katibu Kirunda, a former councillor, in Butyabule Village on Monday.

Mourner after mourner blamed the MP for the poor road network in the area and when he stood to speak, the residents grabbed the microphone from him.

Mr Paul Etyanga, one of the residents, told the Daily Monitor that the road from Bugiri Town Council via Nabukalu to Bugobi in Namutumba District is impassable.

He said Mr Mugabi, during the 2008 by-election, had pledged to construct roads but since then, nothing has been done.

However, the district chairperson, Mr Malijan Azalwa Baluboleire, promised to write a letter to the President to ensure the government fulfills its pledges.
