Robbers steal church offertory

Masaka- Robbers attacked Luvule Catholic Church in Masaka Diocese and made off with offertory.
According to the Parish Priest, Father Steven Kijambu, the robbery took place at about 2am last Tuesday night.

The robbers took off with Shs700,000 that had been collected from offertory, mobile phones, clothes and other property.

Fr Kijambu said the robbers numbering at least four were armed with a gun which they used to threaten the victims.

He added that they ordered him to open his room but he disobeyed so they broke into the rooms next to his and took away whatever they could land their hands on.

He narrated that the robbery took longer than an hour and that the money had been drawn from the bank to make some official payments and a few purchases for the church.

Four bullets have been recovered from the scene according to Southern region police commander Noah Sserujogi.

Last year, a similar robbery took place at Mbiriizi Catholic Parish in Masaka Diocese.
