Rotary work got me oil job, says Katongole

MBALE- The presidential nominee for the chairperson of National Oil Company of Uganda has traced his good choice for the position to his leadership skills at Rotary International.
Mr Emmanuel Katongole, the outgoing District Governor of Rotary District 9211, said his success while at the helm of the service organisation impressed the president to zero on him for the oil post.
“A few months ago, President Museveni informed me that he had learned of the good work I was doing for Rotary,” Katongole said. “Against that background, he said he was giving me another responsibility to be the chairperson of NOCU.”
He referred the nomination as a recognition of the accomplishments of Rotary in the country, irrespective of the outcomes of his second appearance (scheduled today) before the House Appointments Committee for confirmation to the slot.
He made the remarks during a recent ceremony organised by Rotary Club of Muyenga where he is a member.
The function was held to acknowledge Mr Katongole’s feats during his tenure, and “welcome him home” after being kept away by his busy schedule as Rotary District Governor.
The event was graced by Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, Archbishop of Kampala, Mr Sam Owori, a trustee at the Rotary Foundation, Mr Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, the governor – elect of District 9211 and other Rotarians.
In his speech, Archbishop Lwanga commended Mr Katongole for being a result-oriented leader.
“Everywhere I go people talk about Katongole’s achievements,” he said.
