KASESE- The Army General Court Martial sitting in Kasese Wednesday denied bail to two Rwenzururu Kingdom ministers on grounds that the lawyers who represent them delayed to file bail applications yet prosecution needed more time to study them.

The Rwenzururu Minister for Culture Mr Aganatiya Katya and Mr Elly Nyakango Thembo, the minister for Kyatenga Affairs had applied for bail citing ill health.

The duo is among the 54 people on trial for allegedly taking part in the July 5 attacks that left 12 people dead in Kasese District.

When lawyers who represent the accused kingdom officials presented the bail application documents, prosecution rejected them arguing that they would be considered in the next court session on October 13.

The army court chaired by Maj. Gen. Levi Karuhanga has been in Kasese since August 22 to hear the cases.
