Sembabule police boss arrested over murder

Police in Sembabule is holding one of its own, the OC Sembabule Central Police Station on accusations of killing Mr Geoffrey Kabyahima, a herdsman in Lugusulu subcounty over the weekend.
The Southern Regional Police Commander, Maxwell Ogwal confirmed that the suspect (said officer) was arrested on information that he was seen in Sembabule town council on Saturday last week, travelling in a saloon car which was reportedly driven by some of the people suspected to be the assailants who killed Mr Kabyahima.
It is reported that on Saturday July 5, a group of assailants armed with a riffle attacked the home of a businessman, Mr. George Kikere at night and killed his herdsman, Mr Kabyahima. The assailants did not take any valuable commodity from the home of Mr. Kikere.
Mr. Ogwal told Daily monitor that the suspect is being detained at Masaka Central Police as investigations in the matter are going on.
“We want him (suspect) to account for his movements on Saturday 5th when he was seen travelling in a car suspected to be owned by the assailants,” Mr Ogwalsaid.
Mr. Ogwal added that they (police) are still hunting for the other suspects.
However, the suspect in a separate interview with the Daily Monitor denied the allegations claiming they are malicious and intended to tarnish his image.
