Senior police officer arrested for conniving with minister to grab land

A senior police officer has been arrested by the commission of inquiry into land matters for allegedly conniving with junior water minister Ronald Kibuule to grab and torture people in Buikwe District.

ASP Twinamasiko had appeared before the commission to explain his involvement in the land saga.
Justice Bamugemereire ordered his arrest on grounds that he is a danger to the people in Kigaya village in Buikwe District since he has failed to protect them, and instead decided to conspire with minister Kibuule and others including a one Musa Katerega to evict and torture Bibanja holders that ended up causing the death of one resident, Dickson Waswa who refused to sell his plot of land to the minister.
The commission discovered that Wasswa was beaten by police on the orders of ASP Twinamasiko after he allegedly called a village meeting to discuss land matters.

Justice Bamugemereire also expressed concern at the speed in which Mr Twinamasiko has risen through the ranks to that of ASP in such a short time compared to other officers who had at least finished senior six.
Ms Bamugemereire said ASP Twinamatsiko is involved in land transactions that are questionable, shoddy and has caused a lot of suffering, disarray, arrests and even death of some people with impunity.
“It's not safe for the people of Buikwe to have a hyena like you presiding over meat (land),” she said then officer was led out to record a police statement.
