Sheikh Kamoga further remanded to Luzira prison

KAMPALA. Nakawa magistrate’s court has further remanded 18 people, including the Tabliq Muslim sect Amir Sheikh Muhamad Yunus Kamoga over terror related charges and the recent murder of two Muslim clerics.
Grade One Magistrate Timothy Lumunye remanded Sheikh Kamoga and 17 others after the state prosecutor told court that investigations into the matter are not complete.
Kamoga’s co-accused include; Sheikh Ssiraje Kawooya, Sheikh Rashid Jjingo, Sheikh Abdu Salam Ssekayanja, Sheikh Twaha Ssekito and Sheikh Yusuf Kakande ,Sheikh Murta Mudde Bukenya, Sheikh Fahad Kalungi Hakim Kinene Muswaswa, Muzamilu Kasawuli, Arafaat Serunjogi, Badru Bukenya, Alex Okot, Joseph Olanya, Amir Kinene, Aisha Nakasibante and Charles Okidi.
“This matter is adjourned to February 12 for mention as investigations are still on going,” Mr Lumunye said.
Court was filled to its capacity by the suspects’ relatives, friends and followers who had come to offer them support.
Prosecution alleges that the group with others still at large between December 2014 and January 5, 2015 at Kavule ward Buyemba Mayuge District , Bwebajja and Watuba Matugga Wakiso District with intent to intimidate the public or sections of the Moslem faith and for a political, religious, social or economic aim involved themselves in a systematic way directed attacks towards shia and Tabliq moslems which resulted into murders.
Court heard that the suspects allegedly shot and killed Sheikh Mustafa Bahiga at Bwebajja Mosque on Entebbe Road and the Shiite leader, Sheikh Abdul Qadr Muwaya at his home in Mayuge District on different days last month.
They were also charged with another count of attempted murder of Sheikh Jemba Haruna.
