Singer Harriet Kisakye passes on

KAMPALA. Popular local musician Harriet Kisakye has died. The 35 year-old had been hospitalised at Mulago National Referral Hospital for more than two weeks.
However on Thursday, former FDC president Kizza Besigye and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago came to her aid and transferred her to the International Hospital Kampala (IHK).

“It is very traumatic. I sympathise with her father. He lost a son who was clobbered to death by goons not so long ago,” a depressed Lukwago told Daily Monitor in a telephone interview.
Mr Lukwago said the decision to transfer Ms Kisakye to IHK was taken because it is the only hosptal in the country with dialysis machine. The Kidney dialysis machine filters harmful wastes, salt, and excess fluid from blood.

He added that IHK proprietor Dr Ian Clarke assembled a team of medical officers that had been working on her until Saturday when she was pronounced dead.

The singer is famous for songs like Kinigeria and Gyenvudde
She was born in Kayunga Town council Wakiso District to Charles Musisi and the late Lilian Namwangye.
She attended St. Joseph Nansana Primary School and St. Augustine's College Wakiso.

There are reports that the deceased was planning to stand for Wakiso district woman MP in the 2016 general elections.
