State house yesterday released a statement refuting claims that it is facilitating a youth seminar at Namboole.
The seminar which according to a statement released by the State House’s Department of Press and Public Relations is being organized by a group calling itself `Voice of Movement As State House Monitoring Team’ led by Katamba Joy, Kassim Makumbi and another only identified as Teefe.
“State House would like to disassociate itself from this group and strongly disowns all its actions. We are not aware of any such activity in our office and the public should beware,” the statement read in part.
It added that the group leaders have been moving countrywide mobilizing youth groups to come and attend a seminar on July 31 at Namboole claiming that it is being facilitated by State House under the theme, “Entrepreneurship promotion in organizations key in actualization of Uganda Vision 2040.”
In April the ruling NRM party also issued a statement where it stated that it had not summoned party youth for a conference at Namboole. The youth later fought at the NRM Party headquarters at Kyadondo Road in Kampala over the commencement of the controversial delegates’ conference.
President Museveni who is also the NRM party chairperson has been meeting youth from different regions of the country ever since a resolution was passed in Kyankwanzi backing his sole candidature for 2016.
Youth groups coming up with different projects aimed at attracting funds from the president have been cropping up in the recent past with the President launching them and providing funding. In June, he launched the Uganda Youth innovation Centre and Export Market.
