The president of the healers says no genuine traditional healer exhumes bodies.

BUIKWE- The president of the Uganda Traditional Healers Association locally known as Uganda Neddagala Lyayo, Mr Jimmy Patrick Mudhungu, has warned traditional healers to stop exhuming bodies, saying the act is illegal and contrary to the unwritten laws that govern traditional medicine and healing.

“Cases of grave vandalism have become rampant and they are creating a rift between the public and traditional healers. It is casting the healers in bad light yet it is being done by a few who are not even genuine because no genuine traditional healer would exhume a body,” he said, while speaking at a traditional healers’ thanksgiving ceremony in Kitezi village, Kawolo Sub-county, Buikwe District last Saturday.

He said the association has embarked on a nationwide campaign to arrest all fake healers and those involved in unacceptable practices such as child sacrifice.

“We shall revoke the licenses of healers who involve themselves in illegal practices like exhuming skulls, sacrificing children and possession of human body parts,” he said.
