Kabarole- Students of Kagote Seed Secondary School in Kabarole District on Tuesday held a public demonstration against their head teacher whom they accused of frustrating their education.

Gregory Mukama Twine, the student leader of the school council, presented their petition to the Kabarole Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Vincent Kamugisha.

The students accused the head teacher and his deputy of stopping Senior Four students, who had not paid holiday coaching fees, from filling out forms for national examinations.
They further alleged that the head teacher, without their consent, imposed on S4 students a lunch fee of Shs50,000.

“Some teachers who were brought to teach during holidays instead sexually harassed some girls in the school,” the students alleged in their petition.

The students alleged that the school head teacher had refused to address their complaints.

The students marched through Fort Portal Town to the RDC’s office where they handed their petition to deputy RDC.

Mr Kamugisha urged the students for calm and promised to look into their grievances and take appropriate action.

The head teacher and his deputy denied the allegations and insisted that the protesting students were unruly.
