Speaking at Makerere University yesterday, Ms Susanne Spets, the head of development cooperation at the Swedish Embassy, said although their government was considering reviewing funding to Uganda, they will continue supporting research.
“The Swedish government is considering reviewing funding to Uganda because of the homosexuality law. But this will not affect research money to Makerere,” Ms Spets said.
About Shs18.9 billion has so far been spent since 2000 in capacity building and infrastructure development at the university. The university also presented a Shs34.7 billion request for more funding for the fourth phase of the project which will run from 2015 to 2020.
