Kampala/Kabarole- The Archbishop of Kampala, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has asked government to desist from using an iron hand when dealing with the Rwenzururu King Charles Wesly Mumbere and his followers and instead embrace dialogue.

“Both parties should sit on a round table and talk peace. Using the gun does not create peace in the long-run,” he told journalists on Sunday.
This was after opening father’s Kisoboka House at St Charles Lwanga Ntinda Parish.

Mumbere is facing murder charges while his 149 royal guards are still under police custody facing interrogation.

Meanwhile, in Kabarole, District leaders last Thursday condemned the conflict in Rwenzori region that has left scores of people dead and others injured.

Speaking during the commemoration of the World Aids Day at Ruteete Sub-county in Kabarole District, the Resident District Commissioner, Mr Stephen Asiimwe, condemned the bloody attacks on Rwenzori region that have created insecurity and displacement of hundreds of people.

“I urge the agitators of the rebellion and the attackers still hiding in mountain hideouts to surrender and government is ready to forgive them,” he said.
