Teacher on the run over wife’s murder

BUTALEJA: Police in Butaleja District are hunting for a primary school teacher on allegations of killing his wife.

It's reported that Moses Namuteto, a teacher at Bubbinge Primary School in Nawanjofu Sub County, killed his wife, Betty Nahirya, 24, on Saturday night.

Namuteto accused his wife of having a sexual affair with another man.

The deceased was a student at Telo Early Childhood Education and Management College in Mbale.

The Bukedi region police Spokesperson, Mr Sowali Kamulya confirmed the incident and said they have already launched a manhunt to arrest the suspect.

“We have started the investigations and we are also seriously hunting for the suspect,” Mr Kamulya, said.

According to Mr Kamulya, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect invited the deceased at his home, where he murdered her.

“The neighbours told police that they saw the deceased and the suspect together during night at his home, but were surprised to discover her body in his house with multiple injuries on the head, the following day,” he said.

He explained that the suspect also left behind a note, on which he wrote confessing to have murdered his wife over extramarital affairs.

The case is being investigated at Nawajonfu Police station under vide NAWSDREF: 06/14/07/2018 and NAWCRB: 37/2018 respectively.

The deceased’s body was taken to Mbale Municipal Council Mortuary for post-mortem as investigations continue.

Relatedly, the decomposing body of a man has been discovered at Kanibi swamp, Pallisa Sub County in Pallisa District.

Police identified the deceased as Jowali Saliza, a resident of the same area.

The case is being investigated at Pallisa Central Police Staion under Vide Pal CRB 596/2018.
