The Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force on Friday afternoon released suspected terrorists on police bond few hours after they were arrested at Forest Mall in Kampala.

The suspects of Eritrean origin were netted after a tip off from civilians in a saloon they had entered.

“The suspects have been released on police bond after thorough interrogation that left the force convinced that they have no connection to terrorists,” Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Mr Onyango said.

JATT operatives raided the suspects’ place of residence but were unable to trace any evidence linking the duo to terrorism.

One of the two male suspects was found dressed as a woman thus raising suspicions in the individuals that were in the saloon at forest mall.

The arrest follows a warning by the US Embassy to Uganda Police on a “specific threat” of an attack on Entebbe International Airport on Thursday night.
