Three die in Iganga accidents

Three people have died in two separate accidents in Iganga District and five sustained serious injuries.
The accidents, police say were due to reckless driving.
The first accident occurred on Tuesday evening at Butaba village on the Iganga-Bugiri highway when a driver of Mitsubishi Canter truck heading to Tororo knocked dead a bystander before ramming into a taxi which had been parked at the road side.
Mr Andrew Balilaine, an eye witness said the bystander was talking to a friend who was seated in a Toyota Noah car that was parked near the road.

The police spokesman Busoga East region James Mubi confirmed the accident that involved three vehicles.
He identified the deceased as Musa Wamulika, a resident of Butaba village and Christine Awori, one of the passengers in the taxi.
Five passengers who were in the taxi sustained injuries. They were taken to Bugiri Hospital to receive treatment.
In another accident, an unidentified cyclist was knocked dead in Igannga town.
“Drivers should always adhere to traffic guidelines to avoid cases of this nature,” Mr Mubi said.
