Three residents of Marindi Central Village in Pachara Sub-county, Adjumani District, drowned in River Nile when their boat capsized at the weekend.
The police identified the dead as Richard Iceta, Patrick Alumai and Bilali Obulejo. Two unidentified persons survived the accident. The five people on the boat were travelling from Onihwe landing site in Ciforo to Itula Sub-county in Moyo District. Pachara Sub-county chairperson Gabriel Amech said the boat capsized due to the strong wind.
“Due to the strong winds and water waves, the engine stopped working, consequently making the boat to capsize since it had lost balance on the water,” said Mr Amech.
