Police in Mpigi District are investigating circumstances under which suspected thugs broke into offices of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Mpigi branch, stealing valuable documents, unspecified amount of money, seven computers and an assortment of related equipment.

Mr Joseph Musana, police publicist in Katonga region, said the incident happened Wednesday night.
“We got informed of burglary and theft by the NWSC staff this (Thursday) morning and we had to send our investigating officers to find out what really happened. A statement shall be made over the matter later,” he said.
Police arrested two security guards; Mr Mathew Opio and Madrina Mangeni to help in investigations.

"The two are detained in our custody at Mpigi Central Police Station but we're still hunting for others including some of the workers of NWSC, who are suspected to have engaged in burglary and theft," Mr. Musana added.
A neighbour to the offices who claims to have witnessed the robbery and asked not to be named, said the thugs entered the offices, with one wearing a cap similar to that of security guards and a jacket while another was in civilian attire.

"They were two people but I thought they were workers trying to sort some things. They were panicking and doing everything in a hurry," he said.
