The 13 suspects accused of murdering former Assistant Inspector General of Police (A/IGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi have complained of being constantly tortured, not fed and kept on handcuffs 24 hours a day inside the notorious Nalufenya jail.

The suspects led by Abdu Rashid Mbazira Buyondo were Friday brought from Nalufenya security facility to Nakawa Magistrates court in two mini-bus vans under tight security.
Other suspects include Ramdhan Noor Din Higenyi, Yusuf Mugerwa, Bruhan Baryejusa, Umar Maganda, and Ahmed Shafic Ssenfuka, Ibrahim Kiisa, Hassan Tumusime, Othman Muhamad Omerette,Hamid Maganda, Abdul Majid Ojejera and Musa Abubaker Ntende.
Three of them walked with difficulty as they limped to court. The three were half-naked exposing wounds on their chests and arms.
On seeing them, a handful of family members who were waiting at court broke down in tears.

In the dock, the suspects narrated to the magistrate their horrific experience since their arrest.
“Your Worship, we are Ugandans in this country but last time we took plea before this court [April 21], you ordered that we should be taken to Luzira Maximum Prison but instead those policemen before you, took us to Nalufenya police cells where we have been constantly been tortured, both physically and psychologically;. We pray that you order that they take us to Luzira prison this time,” one suspect who was wearing a black shirt said.

When presiding Grade One magistrate Nooh Sajjabi told him that court has no jurisdiction to hear such complaints, another suspect raised his hand.
“Your Worship, we are placed on handcuffs 24 hours a day and we are about to die of hunger,” the suspect told the magistrate who did not entertain more complaints and remanded them to Luzira till May 18 leaving relatives wailing.
