Amuria.
Two children have been burnt beyond recognition after fire caught the grass thatched house they were sleeping in.
The deceased, aged 3 years and 8 months are said to have burnt to death when their mother, Ms Leah Akello, a resident of Oditel trading centre, Kapelebyong Sub County in Amuria District locked them in the house to go and watch television in the nearby shop.
East Kyoga police spokesperson, Mr Michael Odongo said the cause of the fire is not yet known but the father of the children had been arrested and is in police custody to help with the investigations.

“The fire broke out and killed the children who were sleeping after their mother locked them inside and went to watch television. This was sheer negligence,” Odongo said.
Mr Odongo said police’s preliminary investigations had revealed that the children were staying with their mother who had separated with their father following domestic wrangles.
Police rescued the suspect from angry relatives who wanted to lynch him.
