What you need to know:

The posters, which bore the words “The return of the Hero, Gen. David Sejusa”, were pinned in the city centre, Namuwongo, Entebbe Road and in Kawempe.

Police yesterday said they were holding two people in connection with pinning posters bearing the image of Gen David Sejusa aka Tinyefuza around the city.

The posters, which bore the words “The return of the Hero, Gen. David Sejusa”, were pinned in the city centre, Namuwongo, Entebbe Road and in Kawempe.

Deputy police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest: “We arrested two men in connection with the posters but we’re yet to talk (get statements) from them.”

The duo was arrested at Shell Lugogo and by last evening was still detained at Kira Road Police Station.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Mr Ibin Ssenkumbi, questioned the intentions of those pinning the posters.
“What they are doing is illegal and I believe their intentions are inciting the people and causing disorder,” Mr Ssenkumbi said.

The Kampala Capital City Authority’s spokesperson, Mr Peter Kaujju, also said no one had sought their permission to pin the posters as provided for in the law.

“We do not allow anyone to pin posters anywhere in the city and if someone is found they are supposed to be prosecuted in courts of law,” Mr Kaujju said.

Gen Sejusa, the coordinator of intelligence agencies, has been in the limelight lately after contents of a letter he wrote to the director of the Internal Security Organisation were published. The letter called for an investigation into claims of plans to assassinate some top government officials opposed to the “Muhoozi Project”.
