Two injured as Gulu-bound fuel tanker overturns in Omoro

Two people are nursing injuries after a Fuel tanker they were traveling in overturned along Gulu-Kampala Highway.
The Monday accident happened at Bar Ogal village, Koro Sub-county in Omoro District at about 3:30am according to police.
The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema identified the injured as Abdu Malik, 35, the driver of the Fuel tanker and Brian Muhammad, the turn man.
He said the two were taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital emergency unit for medical attention.
Mr Okema said the fuel tanker belonging to GASCO company was carrying about 36,000 litres of petrol from Mombasa, Kenya enroute Gulu Municipality when it over turned.
He said police fire brigade rushed to the scene to block people from siphoning fuel adding that two fuel trucks were dispatched to empty the accident Fuel tanker.
According to Mr Okema, preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the truck dozed off before veering off the road.
He cautioned drivers to take ample rest before taking on long driving journeys.
